IR receiver combined with Kinect infrared emitter and processing algorithms of backlight distortion is actually a three-dimensional scanner based on structured illumination which allows to build a scene depth map as a point cloud, coordinated in height, width and depth in the camera coordinate system.
On the basis of such a depth map is possible to construct three-dimensional model on a robot.
